Nocona Boy’s Longhorn Engravable Belt
We designed the Nocona Boy’s Longhorn Engravable Belt for young riders who want a genuine Western accessory with a personal touch. The full-grain leather strap features our signature tooled longhorn steer head emblem at the center, surrounded by hand-tooled geometric patterns that run the entire length. What sets this belt apart is the smooth leather plate above the buckle where we can engrave your child’s name, initials, ranch brand, or a short message up to 15 characters.
The triple-stitched construction holds up through daily wear, rodeo weekends, and growth spurts. We use the same tanning process and hardware-grade steel buckle found in our adult collection, just sized for kids ages 4 through 14. The strap measures 1¼ inches wide with seven adjustment holes spaced ½ inch apart, giving you plenty of room to adjust as they grow.

What the numbers mean
Measure your child’s waist at the pant line where they normally wear a belt, then order two inches larger to hit the middle adjustment hole. For example, a 22-inch waist needs a size 24 belt. This leaves room for tucked-in shirts and growth without immediately maxing out the holes.
The strap runs long enough that kids typically get two to three years of wear before outgrowing it completely. We cut each belt 6 inches past the last hole so the tail tucks neatly through the keeper loop without excess flapping. The turquoise underlay belt uses an identical sizing chart if you’re comparing styles, and both share the same 1¼-inch width that fits standard youth pant loops. When in doubt between two sizes, go larger — leather breaks in but won’t stretch a full size.
We hand-stamp each engraving request using individual letter punches and a rawhide mallet, the same method boot makers use for personalized shafts. The smooth leather plate sits directly above the buckle, visible when worn, and accommodates up to 15 characters including spaces and basic punctuation.
Popular requests include first names, ranch brands, initials with a middle ampersand, and short phrases like FUTURE CHAMP or RIDE PROUD. We use a classic block font that stays legible as the leather ages. The stamping depth is permanent and won’t fade, rub off, or need re-application. Turnaround adds 3 to 5 business days to your order since we complete engraving after payment clears and before shipping.
The vegetable-tanned leather arrives with a light protective coating but benefits from conditioning every few months, especially in dry climates. Use a nickel-sized amount of pure neatsfoot oil or mink oil, rub it in with a clean cloth, and let the belt rest overnight before wearing. Avoid silicone-based products that seal the surface and prevent the leather from breathing.
Dirt and arena dust brush off easily with a stiff horsehair brush. For deeper cleaning, dampen a cloth with saddle soap, work it into a lather, and wipe down the entire strap. Let it air-dry away from direct heat sources like radiators or dashboard sunlight, which can crack the grain. The tooled longhorn design holds detail best when you keep the surface supple — dried-out leather loses definition in the stamped areas over time.

What’s Included with Your Order
Each belt ships with the buckle already attached and your engraving completed if requested during checkout. We include a care card with conditioning instructions and a small branded dust bag for storage when the belt isn’t in daily rotation.
The buckle is removable via the leather tab on the back if your child wants to swap in a trophy buckle later. We use a standard 1½-inch buckle attachment that fits most youth and adult Western buckles, so the strap grows with them even if they move to a larger buckle down the road. No additional hardware or tools are required to start wearing the belt right out of the package.

Questions About the Longhorn Engravable Belt
Engraving adds 3 to 5 business days to your order timeline. We complete all stamping after payment clears and before the belt ships, so the total delivery window is typically 7 to 10 business days from order date. Rush engraving isn’t available since each piece is hand-stamped individually using letter punches and requires drying time between steps.
Yes, the buckle removes easily via the snap-tab on the back of the strap. The attachment is a standard 1½-inch loop that fits most youth and adult Western buckles, so your child can swap in trophy buckles or upgrade to a larger style as they grow. The leather strap itself will outlast multiple buckle changes.
The Longhorn Engravable Belt includes a smooth leather plate above the buckle specifically designed for custom stamping. Our other youth belts have continuous tooling or design elements across the entire strap with no dedicated engraving area. All Nocona kids’ belts use the same full-grain leather and triple-stitched construction regardless of style.
Leather will conform to body shape and break in around the waist, but it won’t stretch a full size. That’s why we recommend ordering two inches larger than the measured waist — it positions the fit at the middle adjustment hole with room to tighten or loosen as needed. The seven holes spaced half an inch apart give you about three inches of total adjustment range.
Use a soft tape measure around their waist at the pant line where they normally wear a belt, not at the navel. Take the measurement over a tucked-in shirt for accuracy. Add two inches to that number to find the right belt size. For example, a 24-inch waist measurement needs a size 26 belt.
If we made an error stamping the engraving exactly as you submitted it, we’ll replace the belt at no charge. If the spelling or character choice was entered incorrectly during checkout, custom-engraved items are final sale since the personalization can’t be transferred to another customer. We email a proof for approval before stamping any order over 10 characters to minimize errors.
We use full-grain cowhide that’s vegetable-tanned and hand-finished in Texas. Full-grain means the top layer of the hide is intact with all the natural grain texture, making it more durable than split leather or corrected grain. Vegetable tanning uses tree bark extracts instead of chemicals, which produces leather that ages better and develops a rich patina over years of wear.
