Nocona Women’s Sunflower Tooled Belt
We hand-tool each sunflower motif into premium full-grain leather, creating a belt that celebrates Western heritage without compromising modern style. The raised floral pattern runs the length of the strap, balanced by traditional basket-weave borders that frame every bloom.
This belt works equally well with jeans and a chambray shirt or layered over a sundress for weekend gatherings. The leather arrives slightly stiff and breaks in beautifully over the first few weeks of wear, conforming to your waist while the sunflower details become more pronounced with age. We use a removable antique silver buckle so you can swap hardware when you want a fresh look.

What the numbers mean
We start with hides that retain the outermost grain layer — the densest, most durable part of the leather. Full-grain leather shows natural marks and variations in texture, which means every belt carries its own character before tooling even begins.
Our craftspeople dampen each strap section and press steel stamps into the surface, compressing fibers to create the raised sunflower petals and seed heads you see. The basket-weave borders require separate stamps aligned by eye, so no two belts emerge identical. This compression gives the design its three-dimensional depth and ensures the pattern won’t fade or wear flat over time.
Measuring for Your Belt Size
Order one size larger than your jeans waist measurement. If you wear a size 8 (typically a 28-29 inch waist), choose a Medium belt. The standard five-hole spacing lets you adjust about two inches in either direction once the belt arrives.
Measure an existing belt from the buckle’s center bar to the hole you use most often — that number is your true belt size. Our sunflower tooled belt follows this industry-standard measurement, so if a 32-inch belt works in your current rotation, order the 32-inch option here.
Wipe the belt with a dry soft cloth after each wear to remove dust from the tooled crevices. Dirt and oils accumulate fastest in the recessed areas around the sunflower centers, dulling the contrast between raised and stamped sections.
Condition the leather every 8-10 wears using a neutral leather cream or beeswax-based conditioner. Apply a thin layer with a clean cloth, work it into the tooled pattern with your fingertips, then buff away any excess. Over-conditioning can darken the antique stain and soften the leather too much, causing the strap to lose its structure.

Buckle compatibility & hardware swaps
The belt ships with our antique silver buckle, but the strap accepts any three-piece buckle set with a standard 1.5-inch frame. Slide the keeper loop toward the tip, lift the buckle’s center bar out of the strap slot, and thread your new hardware into place.
We use Chicago screws to secure the buckle, so you’ll need a small flathead screwdriver to swap hardware. Unscrew the fastener on the belt’s backside, remove the buckle, align your replacement buckle’s holes with the strap slots, then reinsert and tighten the screw. The sunflower pattern continues all the way to the buckle attachment point, so even decorative buckles with open frames showcase the tooling.

Questions about the Nocona women’s sunflower tooled belt
Order one size larger than your jeans waist measurement. For example, if you wear a size 8 (28-29 inch waist), select a Medium belt. You can also measure an existing belt from the buckle’s center bar to your most-used hole — that measurement is your belt size. Our sunflower belt includes five holes spaced one inch apart, giving you about two inches of adjustment range once it arrives.
We hand-tool every sunflower motif using steel stamps pressed into dampened leather. Our craftspeople align each stamp by eye to create the petals, seed heads, and basket-weave borders, so no two belts are identical. This compression technique gives the design its three-dimensional depth and ensures the pattern remains visible even as the leather ages and develops a patina.
Avoid wearing the belt in heavy rain or submerging it in water. Brief exposure to light moisture won’t harm the leather, but soaking can cause the fibers to shrink unevenly and may crack the tooled areas. If the belt does get wet, let it air-dry flat away from direct heat sources like radiators or hair dryers, which accelerate drying and increase the risk of warping or cracking.
Condition the belt every 8-10 wears using a neutral leather cream or beeswax-based conditioner. Apply a thin layer with a soft cloth, work it gently into the tooled areas, then buff away any excess. Over-conditioning can darken the antique stain and soften the leather too much, causing the strap to lose its shape and structure over time.
The pattern is compressed into the leather fibers rather than applied to the surface, so it won’t fade or rub off. The tooling may become slightly more pronounced as the leather around it softens and develops a patina. Keep dust and oils out of the recessed areas by wiping the belt with a dry cloth after each wear to maintain the contrast between raised and stamped sections.
Yes, the strap accepts any three-piece buckle set designed for a 1.5-inch belt. We secure the buckle with Chicago screws, so you’ll need a small flathead screwdriver to swap hardware. Unscrew the fastener on the back of the belt, remove the original buckle, align your new buckle’s holes with the strap slots, then reinsert and tighten the screw. Choose buckles weighing four ounces or less to avoid stretching the leather over time.
This belt is available in natural tan leather with an antique brown stain applied after tooling. The stain settles into the recessed areas of the sunflower design and highlights the edges of each petal. As the leather ages and develops a patina from oils and handling, the color will deepen and the contrast in the tooled pattern will become more pronounced.
